WELCOME TO THE MILLER LAB The goal of our lab is to answer the question, “How do
axons grow?”.
We address this problem by analyzing the biogenesis,
transport,
and
degradation
of
mitochondria in neurons by mathematical
modeling, biophysical
analysis,
genetic screens,
targeted gene disruption,
and behavioral studies.
Our
integrative
studies are conducted in both cultured neurons and
Drosophila. Our hope is that a global understanding of the
mitochondrial life cycle in neurons will lead to treatments that
facilitate axonal regeneration and point the way to treatments for
mitochondrial diseases. |
